7 (Monday) July 2026, 18:00, Engineering Building 1, A563
Sunhyung Kim is an architect, researcher, and educator based in South Korea and leads the research studio FRAME WORKS.
His work focuses on tectonics, assembly, timber construction. Through projects and research, he approaches architecture not as a finished image, but as a process shaped by material sequence and construction logic. His research examines how modern Korean architecture became deeply tied to reinforced concrete and formwork-based production, while exploring how timber construction and dry assembly systems might reopen architecture as a framework of making.
He studied architecture at Konkuk University and the University of Michigan, worked at SOM Chicago, and later led Joongwon Architects in Seoul. He has received several major awards, including the Korea Young Architect Award, Korean Institute of Architects Award, Korean Architecture Award, and Architizer A+ Award.
